Members of the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Radiological/Nuclear Threat Detection Unit and partner agencies recover a decades-old Cesium-137 radioactive source in Midland County on July 25. The source, buried approximately 6 to 8 inches below the surface, was safely excavated and removed without injuries, contamination or any threat to the public.

Body GREENWOOD - A routine patrol by a specially trained Texas Department of Public Safety trooper led to the discovery and safe recovery of a decades-old radioactive source buried beneath the ground in Midland County.
Greenwood's Dylan Payton and Andrick Rodriguez competed at Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon. Payton also qualified for the USA Track & Field U20 Championships and earned First-Team All-American honors in the championship 400-meter hurdles, while Rodriguez competed in the championship 400 and the club 4x400-meter relay.
